TFL Mission

  • Increase access to and acquisition of assistive technology devices and services so Georgians of all ages and disabilities can live, learn, work and play independently in communities of their choice.

Team Meeting Expectations

1. All TFL team meetings are no/light device meetings. This means using your device professionally, minimally, as an accommodation, or for emergencies.

2. Be mindful of the time you are given for your updates.

3. Provide thoughtful and comprehensive updates to the team. This time is the opportunity for everyone to learn about TFL projects and activities.

TFL AT Acquisition Updates (Danny) - 10 mins.

Credit-Able Updates

  1. FY19 Update: 17 submissions so far (12 approved, 2 denied, 1 withdrawn and 2 in process) 2 new applications not entered yet
  2. 124 active loans with principle totaling $367,614
  3. CFII applied for $30,000 from the Atlanta Pride Committee's community reinvestment award program
  4. Working on having a presence at the Credit Builder's Alliance symposium, submitting for presentation
  5. Hosted members of the Atlanta Financial Inclusion workgroup and they were impressed, we will be hosting a half day event here in the spring (surprise training team!)
  6. No more apps will be processed until January

Other

  1. DBHDD Equipment, the full 2nd order from October came in. A majority of the 1st order from October has arrived. Part of the delay was due to some items being backordered
  2. They are working on getting all the pieces from the November order currently. We are hoping to be on track with getting that in the next couple of weeks. It's a large order
  3. Deaf-Blind AT event was a huge success, they loved our space and pointed out that we need to expand our DB AT
  4. Showed up at another IATSE event over the weekend to be seen being useful for a potential sponsorship
  5. Invited to attend the senior division of NFBGA call to discuss the Amazon Echo and Google Home and how they can be used for the older blind community (or, as the division prefers: Red Hot Seniors)

Disaster!

  1. The READI for Disasters Act was introduced by Sen. Casey and original co-sponsors: Sens. Klobuchar (MN), Duckworth (IL), Blumenthal (CT), Van Hollen (MD), Murray (WA), and Hassan (NH). There are 65 organizations who have already signed on as supporters.

  1. Division of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD)
    • 158 Referred; 20 are Belton participants and will not be eligible for the research program or equipment; 24 declined services or not eligible for the program; majority needing speech services
    • New monthly report formatting- this month reporting will be easier after creating new format
    • November 13th will be presented to DBHDD on Updates and Research- very impressed and we are working on a new budget for another year!
    • Two large equipment shipments have come in- DS is inventory, barcoding, and organizing orders to be delivered starting in Jan!
    • Working hard with assessments and 2nd/3rd visits within the Atlanta are; have a few more that are officially completed!


  1. Division of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) | Gracewood
    • Three trainings scheduled November 15th and Nov 28 (TFL and AT 101, Disability Awareness, and Visual Supports) went excellent! Very active and many stayed afterwards to discuss more
    • Would like to borrow equipment to try
    • DeeDee and Martha met with Shanta and James- able to talk through and would like us only to focus on those in Gracewood, will finish with the last one that has transitioned out.
    • We will be observing everyone on the list they gave us, then from there we will pick 10 more to do a more in depth eval. They would like for us to begin in recreation area with AT
    • DeeDee and Martha will be working with Gracewood this Thursday
  1. ) DEI
    • Working on a contract extension and budget modification to include the purchase of equipment- May not have the money in the budget to purchase equipment
    • Rossany is working on a contract extension through March 2020; this will include 50-60 individuals that they will refer to us
    • Reports will need to be written for these individuals to approve the equipment before purchase


  1. ) National Parks
    • Working on contract extension and Year 2 funding
    • Brian Cook cancelled meeting in regards to contract last week to meet with his supervisor
    • No money after Dec 7th so we are not working on projects until we hear about the funding


  1. ) Division of Aging Services (DAS) |
    • Rachel and Martha presented to DAS/DHS transition coordinators and State ADRC managers and supervisors in November- DAS would like for more individuals to be referred to TFL for assessments


  1. ) Other Items
    • Danny and Martha will be meeting with Tiffany on Thursday and meeting with Micheal Leverett with Carolyn on Dec 13th to discuss new ideas for TFL Contracts and get their ideas.
    • Still have several requests for AT Evals.
    • DeeDee and Martha are working together on TFL policies with AAC
    • Presented to the University of Hawaii Rehab Counseling class Nov 13 9:30pm-11:30pm on AT- it was fabulous- 3 students lived in CA so was able to speak about PIOC and reuse
    • Ben is working on 3 school assessments
    • LDA: Conference committee meets each month. Conference call with OK AT Program yesterday and they will be assisting us in the lab this year!
