Introduction to the AT Solutions Lab

Session Description:

Welcome to the Assistive Technology revolution! The world around us is evolving at an astounding rate. Assistive Technology developments had been foundational in this evolution in a capitalist producing positive life-changing results for individuals with disabilities. However, as new technology develops, professionals are challenged to create new and innovative ethical boundaries to accommodate these advancements. This talk will be an overview of the benefits of assistive technology when serving people with disabilities.

Considerations in the AT Assessment Process

Session Description:

Assistive Technology developments have been foundational in the evolution AT and a catalyst for producing positive life-changing results for individuals with disabilities. This session will take a closer look at AMAC and Tools for Life's programs and missions as well as advocacy and knowing your rights. We will focus on understanding assistive technology an how to use low/light tech solutions to inform mid/high tech solutions. We will look at where we are and perhaps, where we are going.


Position for Working: Exploring Trends in Assistive Technology

Session Description:

This session will focus on exploring assistive technology trends specifically in the workplace. This presentation will identify ergonomic challenges that individuals with disabilities often face in their workplace environments. Presenters will share a range of strategies that include the basic steps to identifying problem areas within the scope of a workplace assessment. Solutions will be shared that can assist with improving posture, enhance the ability to focus, reduce fatigue and save energy all while promoting inclusion and productivity at work.

Promoting Successful Transition with Assistive Technology

Session Description:

Tools for Life endeavors to break down the barriers which prevent individuals with disabilities, their families, and service providers from acquiring and effectively using Assistive Technologies to gain greater independence to ensure that AT products are available to Georgians with disabilities and to eliminate funding barriers. This sessions will focus on acquiring assistive technology in order to transition into the workplace.
