Tools for Life is Georgia's Assistive Technology Act Program

Tools for Life is Georgia's Assistive Technology Act Program

The Tools for Life (TFL) program is dedicated to increasing knowledge, awareness, and access to assistive technology (AT) devices and services for Georgians of all ages and disabilities so they can live, learn, work and play independently and with greater freedom in communities of their choice.  As an AT Act program, TFL provides activities, programs, and services that help older adults and people with disabilities learn about, use, and acquire the assistive technology that best meets their unique needs.  Learn more about the Federal AT Act Read What is an AT Act Program written in plain language.

Assistive technology helps people with disabilities and older adults fully engage in the activities of daily life.

What is Assistive Technology (AT)?

Making Life possible with Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) includes products, devices and systems that help people with disabilities and older adults at home, work, school, and in the community. AT can also help people participate in social, recreational, and civic events. Using AT helps support connection and reduces isolation. Read What is Assistive Technology written in plain language.

TFL provides access to AT Labs that showcase a range of assistive technology, from basic products to advanced systems. The AT labs include tools to assist with daily living, vision, hearing, and communication. New labs include tools designed to support older adults, and the new Adaptive Gaming Lab.

AT Services

Types of Services

TFL provides the AT services that help older adults and people with disabilities, their families, care partners, and members of their support networks, learn about and try out AT devices that may best meet their needs. TFL AT services include demonstrations, lending libraries, public awareness, information, and trainings. AT Services are available to Georgians of all ages who would benefit from the use of Assistive Technology for daily living, work, education, or recreational activities.

Training and Funding Resources

Tools for Life provides a variety of educational opportunities and trainings on a regular basis including webinars, conference presentations, and targeted and customized trainings for groups.

TFL also provides information on financing and funding options available to help people with disabilities and older adults purchase AT. We support reuse. Find out if the AT you need is available at a cost savings from a reuse organization.
